Greetings! Here is a bit about me - I grew up in Augusta, Georgia and worked at the Masters Golf Tournament during high school! Following high school, I attended The University of Georgia and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Journalism. Several years later, I received my middle grades teaching certification in English Language Arts and Social Science from Georgia Southern University, Armstrong Campus. I am gifted certified and currently serve as the Academic Coach for Druid Hills Middle School and the DCSD NTO secondary ELA facilitator. I've taught 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade English and English Language Arts in private, public, magnet, and charter schools throughout Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. While teaching in Florida, I served as an English SME (subject matter expert) on a Florida Department of Education panel to revise the Florida Teacher Certification Exam in Middle Grades English. In addition, I served as an interim test bank writer for Florida Middle Grades English formative and summative assessments.
My husband Brian is with Georgia Power and is a Georgia Tech graduate (football season can be dicey). Our older son, Tyler, is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a major in Biomedical Engineering. He is married to Erinn, who is also a GT graduate with a degree in Industrial Engineering. They currently live in Chicago and have learned to brave the cold! Our younger son, Connor, attended Auburn University and is currently living near Charleston, S.C. in the restaurant industry. Our "youngest" child is our Great Dane/Labrador Retriever Riley, who is spoiled beyond belief!
I enjoy the diversity of Druid Hills Middle School and the wonderful faculty with whom I work!
